Siak, Siberriau - Siak Regent Afni Zulkifli expressed his concern for the children who were victims of the collapse of the second floor of the Dutch Barracks tourist attraction in Mempura District, Siak Regency, on Saturday (January 31, 2026).

"I am very concerned about the condition of our children who were on a study trip to the Dutch Barracks Cultural Heritage and became victims," ??said Siak Regent Afni.

Upon hearing about the incident, Afni immediately met with all the victims at Tengku Rafi'an Hospital and also inspected the scene.

"I immediately saw the children at Tengku Rafi'an Hospital. Ten students were being treated, six of whom have been discharged, and one student had to be referred to a hospital in Pekanbaru," he said.

Following the tragedy, Afni decided to temporarily close all cultural heritage sites and museums with two stories in Siak Regency.

"For the time being, we are closing all cultural heritage tourist sites and museums with two floors. They are one to two centuries old," he said.

Afni stated that they have also communicated with Indonesian House of Representatives Member Karmila Sari for further action. This will then be followed up by the Indonesian Ministry of Culture.

"Mrs. Karmila Sari also immediately sent photos of the incident to the Minister of Culture, Mr. Fadli Zon, urging him to pay attention and directly observe the condition of the cultural heritage sites, including the Asserayah El Hasyimiah National Museum and the Regional Council Hall, which require our attention," he concluded.
